if you're in a cold climate, don't ever get anything running on batteries if it stays outside. I'd go hard wired all the way, if you're in a warm climate, like Florida, Cali or something like that, solar/battery seems to work

I'm new to 3D printing, I got the Easythreed K9 several weeks ago. I got it because I didn't want to drop a lot of money at first until i saw if 3D printing was for me. Also it allowed me to get some extra supply's like filament. I think I've seen about Easythreed video, Here's some observations. Most don't mention when using CURA, You first have to install the printer profile from a file called K7.3mf, K9.3mf (Depending on which printer you have) its found on the micro SD card that comes with the printer. After that adjusting the settings based on your results will help. The magnetic print bed is good, But PLA can get stuck in the perforations. You can avoid that by using the blue painters tape on it. The tape still has good adhesion and gives a smooth bottom, if more adhesion is needed use a glue stick. Yes, using a better filament will improve the prints. The sample filament has been exposed o moisture, Putting it in a dehydrator improved its performance. (Ive been using the 250gram spools of Easythreed filament which has worked okay, they came in a vacuum sealed bag.) Tramming (leveling) the bed well makes a big difference, I started by using the paper method. But now I'm using a feeler gauge and have seen improved results. You should also check level after every couple of prints. I believe the bed could benefit from better springs. Dimensional accuracy is pretty good on the K9. I don't care for the SD card slot its hard to remove the card, I use the USB cable instead. The little spool holder only holds 250gram spools and is about useless. I don't feel bad about buying it Ive learned a lot, especially what to look for in a better printer. Note: The spool holder stl is nice ( I had a bag full of those bearings) but it is too big to print on the easythreed 100x100 area. I might be able to cut some edges off and get it on diagonally.

I wanted to do something similar except use a stand alone solar panel and dc water pump. Theoretically the pump only runs during the day. Cost a little more but was looking at 12v bilge pumps, so the panel is the main cost.

I just made one of these today! I used a 6 gallon wine bucket, placed a layer of lava rock, situated the pump in place with more lava rock surrounding the pump, then I removed the bioballs from the old leaky filter placed those into the 6 gallon bucket over the lava rocks, cut two pieces of AC filter to size, placed that over the bioballs, drilled multiple holes in the lid, and have the discharge pipe feeding the waterfall. Two jobs in one, a biofilter for cleaning the water, plus oxygenating the water by feeding the waterfall. The fish were so happy they were jumping!

Used these to put a new connector harness on my bass boat trailer wiring; they worked perfectly and all of my connections are solid and secure. Rather than 'butt' the wires against each other, I did create a twisted mechanical connection - bare wire to bare wire - and dipped them in flux before sliding the connector down over the join, with the exposed wire laying parallel to the wiring. Heat gun on high setting for about 35 - 40 seconds and the solder melted just fine. Bear in mind this was 10 - 12 gauge wire so the connectors are fairly small. I figure this is better than the 11 splices I found on the old harness when I stripped away all the bad wiring which was causing all sorts of problems. :)

Just found where its print speed is 10 - 40 mm/s most budget printers are around 250 mm/s, where a decent printer is 500 -700 mm/s

I had ring spotlight cam that died (within the return window). So I sent that a k and bought a euphy s340 + home base. And when I put it up at my garage door, it missed a lot of motion events. And the so-called “AI” identified a motionless stationary sewer manhole cover as a pet. A manhole cover is a moving pet? I was so frustrated as as I went thru a lot of trouble to mount the camera. And ring never did that. So I got rid of it. Ring’s app is much better. I went with unifi protect instead.

Great advice for cooling a garage! I have a 2 1/2 car garage (24' x 22' or 528 sq). As a car detailer in Illinois, the summer months are humid and the temps inside garage can exceed 100 degrees. I don't have regular windows that will accommodate a window air conditioner, but have a floor drain that drains out to the outside in the back of the garage under the concrete. Would it be possible to get a portable AC and run the hose to the floor drain as a vent?

Yeah just pray you don't have to fold one up in the winter time. They like to break and crack the windows. Now if desktop would actually tell you more information on their website about the differences between the models that would be great. What if you want this one that has the third brake light in it but you want windows and screens. There's no option for that there's no information about whether or not it's going to come with them or if you can order them or anything else. You basically just have to guess your way through there website. Now I'm on a side note, Best Stop & Shop or basically the same thing. And basically owned by the same parent company. Why one comes with removable windows and the other does not does not really make much sense to me. I guess it's a great way to Corner the market and eliminate any other competition?

I have a 2000 gallon frog pond with a solar powered fountain pump (i.e. only runs during the day) I set up a 5 gallon barrel filter but put the barrel on its side so it would still function as a fountain. I tried the batting material but it kept clogging up so I removed the batting and just used lava rocks. It took a few weeks but the water changed from solid green to clear. This has been super-helpful; thank you so much!

Thank you for the video. Does anyone think it is possible to vent the portable air conditioner out a floor drain that goes down under the floor and out the back of the garage? I have garage windows but they are small and have sliders (about 18" x 12") and I see no way of customizing it to fit. Thank you!
